Resident: Cormorant, although not nesting, always present offshore; Shelduck, Oystercatcher, Herring and Great Black-backed Gulls, Woodpigeon, Skylark, Meadow and Rock Pipits, Wren, Dunnock, Robin, Blackbird, Song Thrush.

December–February: Occasional divers and grebes offshore, Common Scoter.

March–May: Lesser Black-backed Gulls return to the colonies early in period. Summer passage migrants from late March, with Wheatear and Ring Ouzel the earliest, quickly followed by Swallow and Sand Martin and the occasional Chiffchaff. Small numbers of most other migrants throughout April and early May, with Swift the last to arrive.

June–July: All resident breeding birds present, Shelduck ducklings leaving the island to complete fledging elsewhere in the Severn Estuary.

August–November: Seabird movement offshore, particularly when stormy weather drives birds such as skuas and terns well up the Bristol Channel, while some undoubtedly cross England and move down the Severn Estuary. Warblers appear in August, large passages of Swallows and Sand Martins in early September, and winter visitors in October, with Fieldfares and Redwings passing through, by which time the Shelduck have returned.
